Happy Anniversary, Haiti

Today is the one year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti. It saddens me to see that so little progress has been made this past year in rebuilding this broken city. It also saddens me to see how much more pain they've had to endure between hurricanes, the cholera outbreak and civil unrest surrounding the recent election. It's hard to believe it's been siz months since I was there. If I close my eyes, it is as though I were there yesterday. Since the trip, I am somehow drawn to every news article and TV story about Haiti, and if you really listen close enough, there is some good that is happening. While it may be small in scale, it is changing the lives of others, which also what our generators continue to do. I have received several updates from the recipients who are so truly thankful for the power and electricity that we brought them, that they have a hard time putting it into words. They are truly grateful.

So many of our employees have helped this year also. I've talked to several who have done missionary trips and fundraisers with their churches and schools. Our folks at our Menomonee Falls Distribution Center had a fundraiser and I spoke to them about the trip and our donation. I received several hugs from teary employees who were so proud of what our company did. I've said it once and I'll say it again...our employees are the heart and soul of our company. Thanks to everyone for supporting this wonderful cause.

I am pleased to announce that I have joined the Board of Directors of Haiti Partners for a 3-year term. I will be traveling to Haiti for board retreats several times during this term. I am humbled and honored to be asked to serve in this capacity on behalf of the Company. There's so much more we can do to help and I look forward to sharing those opportunities.

Happy New Year.
